The Institute of French Studies (IFS) at New York University seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow with a recent or expected Ph.D. in Anthropology, History, Political Science or Sociology to begin September 1, 2011, pending administrative and budgetary approval. The IFS is an interdisciplinary center for research and teaching on modern France, 1750 to the present. The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable twice, for a maximum of three years. The teaching load is two courses per semester, mostly at the M.A. or Ph.D. level. Candidates should have received or expect to receive their Ph.D. between September 1, 2006 and June 1, 2011.
